Detailing FAQ’s

What Products Do you use?

This is sometimes a difficult question to answer.  Different car conditions as well as the age of the vehicle can change what products we use.  However, we use only the best products from companies like Chemical Guys, Sonax, Leatherique, Collinite, XPEL and Meguiars.

How Long does a detail take?

The simplest answer is it takes as long as it takes.  Typically a Complete detail takes between 7-10 hours depending on vehicle size and condition.  We do not set a time limit with how long a detail takes, simply because there are so many variables that go into detailing at a high level it is impossible to know.  Which is also why we give a small range in price when quoting a job.  Typically $50 or less.

How Often Should I get my Vehicle Detailed?

This question is entirely based upon the environmental conditions the car is in, as well as how often the car is used.  Daily drivers we recommend 2 Full Details per year with either exterior detail in between or a wash and seal to ensure a high level of protection throughout the entire year.  Cars that are driven less we would recommend 1 Full detail per year and 1 additional exterior wash and seal.

What Forms of Payment do you take?

All three major forms of payment - Credit Cards, Checks and Cash

PPF FAQ’s

Does XPEL Ultimate Film Actually Heal Itself?

Yes.....and no.  Anything that is in the clear coat of the film will typically heal itself in under an hour.  Anything that makes its way below that clear coat WILL NOT.  Some think that if you scratch the film with keys or anything sharp it will heal, it won't.

What is the Warranty on the XPEL Film?

"XPEL warranty's XPEL ULTIMATE Plus Paint Protection Film to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for ten (10) years from the date of purchase. Covered defects include: yellowing, staining, cracking, blistering and delaminating. This warranty does not extend coverage to damage caused by normal wear and tear, road debris impact, accidents, collisions or intentional damage of any kind."

How long after painting a vehicle should I wait to install a clear bra?

This all depends on how the vehicle was painted.  Typically 2-4 weeks will be all the cure time you need.  It is worthwhile to note, that if your car was re-painted the risk of the film peeling the new paint or clear coat off is much greater than if it were factory paint.  If a car was not prepped properly before painting the paint is very susceptible to peeling.  When we notice a car was re-painted, we have customers sign a form acknowledging that we informed them of the risks of applying the film and absolving us of any liability from paint peeling.

I bought film online, will you install it?

Yes, however we assume no liability for future yellowing or any film issues.  On a side note, most pre-cut kits you buy online will have fitment issues and often have been sitting around for a while.  It is best to let your installer (whether you use us or someone else) to supply the film to take advantage of warranties and any issues you would have in the future.

Ceramic coatings warranty varies from product to product.  However most will last for many years as long as you properly care for the coating.  Most people think you get the car coated and that’s it.  You need to maintain the coating throughout the years to ensure its longevity.

Can I take my car to the car wash?

You can, however it will SIGNIFICANTLY lower the length of time the coating works for and also voids the warranty of every manufacturer.  The soaps automated car washed use are very aggressive because they need to clean the daily driver and the guys car who just went off-roading.

It’s a new car; do I really need a paint correction?

9 times out of 10 yes.  Remember your car has a long journey before it even gets to you, and is typically poorly washed at the dealer prior to pick up resulting in light scratches.  At the very least the car needs to but polish and prepped to ensure the coating properly adheres to the paint surface and lasts as long as possible,

How long does it take?

A typical install of ceramic coating really depends on the amount of prep work first.  We usually say plan on 2 days.  However the car should not get wet for at least the first 48 hours, so weather can play a role.

How many layers should I do?

1 Layer is usually more than enough, and anything more than 2 is completely unnecessary.  Once the first layer is applied, it is difficult for anything to stick to the surface, including another layer of coating.  So you are likely just paying extra for something that will either wash right off, or never stuck to begin with.

What should I ceramic coat?

Anything and everything you want to make easier to clean and maintain.  Cars, glass, boats, planes, even things around the house like countertops can be coated.
